Man hacks, wounds his two brothers, passerby
A man hacked and wounded another man and two of his brothers in a fit of rage during a drinking session last Tuesday in Barangay Calidngan, Carcar City in southern Cebu.
Epifanio Lapaz, 35, hacked his younger brother, Hilario, 32, first, with a scythe then turned to his other brother, Panfilo, 39, and Samuel Genebraldo, a passerby, when the two tried to pacify Epifanio.
Investigation showed that Epifanio and Panfilo were having a drinking session in a small hut in the area when Hilario passed by. This angered Epifanio and he suddenly got up, got scythe, and attacked Hilario at past 8 p.m.
When Panfilo and Genebraldo intervened to pacify Epifanio, he instead turned and attacked both men.
All the victims suffered hack wounds on their faces.
Epifanio fled after the attack. He surrendered to police yesterday morning and detained at the Carcar police station pending the filing of charges.
