MEGA Cebu has partnered with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) Cebu to help the local government units (LGUs) within Metro Cebu to have a standard traffic enforcement.

“With this development, we are looking at a more dignified enforcers handling the growing congestion of Metro Cebu’s traffic in the future,” said Tesda Cebu Provincial Director Mark Anthony Ylanan.

Several workshops will be conducted by Tesda to develop competencies for traffic experts, enforcers, and civil society organizations in Metro Cebu. Those who passed the workshops will be given national certification by Tesda.

“Metro Cebu LGUs should have a standardized set of competencies for traffic enforcers,” said Evelyn Nacario-Castro, executive director of Mega Cebu-Research, Planning, Organizing and Development.

Cebu City Traffic Engineering consultant Lynn Gloria Madrona hoped that the partnership between Mega Cebu and Tesda would fast track the standardization of Metro Cebu’s traffic rules.

The traffic enforcement program may be included in the K to 12 curriculum grades 11 and 12 students./PR
