ORMOC’S pride, former world champion Johnriel “Quadro Alas” Casimero, earned a much-needed rematch with Thai IBF world flyweight champion Amnat Ruenroeng this May 25 at the Diamond Stadium in Beijing, China.

Last year, Ruenroeng (17-0, 5 KOs) dethroned Casimero in Bangkok, Thailand via a unanimous decision in a controversial match that saw the Thailander escaping point deductions despite tackling Casimero several times.

Casimero(21-3, 13 KOs)  has not fought since the loss and instead trained in Las Vegas for several months.

Casimero demanded an immediate rematch but was denied.

Ruenroeng instead fought Japanese Myong Ho Lee in Thailand and pulled off a unanimous decision.

The world title showdown will coincide with IBF’s 33rd annual convention that will be held in Beijing also on May 23-27.

Ruenroeng defeated Myung Holee for his fifth defense in December, also in Thailand.
