AROUND 700 barangay officials in Cebu City including 69 barangay chairpersons expressed their support to Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama in last night’s meeting at the Rama compound.

Councilor and Association of Barangay Councils (ABC) president Philip Zafra said he called a meeting with barangay officials allied with Team Rama at the Rama compound  so Mayor Rama can explain to them the issues surrounding his impending six-month suspension.

The Office of the President ordered the six-month suspension of Rama, Vice Mayor Edgardo Labella and 12 councilors in relation to the allocation of the P20,000 calamity cash aid questioned by the Commission on Audit (COA).

Zafra said the barangay officials signed a commitment of support to the mayor on a white board.  He said the officials agreed that the suspension was a form of harassment and their commitment was a show of solidarity to the Rama administration.
