THE Cebu City Traffic Office (CCTO) rounded up 50 delivery truck drivers for obstructing four Cebu City streets during an April 5 operation.

Drivers were caught illegally parking their delivery trucks along P. Lopez, Balintawak and Borromeo Streets in downtown Cebu City and along Osmeña Boulevard in uptown area.

Rey Gealon, CCTO executive director, said they were issued citation tickets and later released. “They need to settle their violations. Otherwise, we will file cases against them because we have a zero-backlog policy for traffic cases,” Gealon said.

Gealon said they organized their April 5 operation following complaints from motorists on the obstruction that they have caused. Drivers were also found to be traveling in the absence of a delivery permit.

“In the downtown area, we are instilling order and discipline because grabe kagubot, especially the vehicles. As if the law is not being implemented there,” Gealon said.
