Pa dies of suffocation; son in serious condition
A FATHER died while his son was in serious condition after they both suffocated while cleaning a deep well in Barangay Argawanon, San Remegio town in northern Cebu around 10 a.m. last Thursday.
Pacifico Manatad, 56, and his son Niño Wilo, 28, were hired by Milagros Bohol to clean her 60-feet deep well so water could flow again.
SPO1 Wendel Pestaño of San Remegio police station said that Niño Wilo was the first to go down but once inside he could hardly breathe due to poor ventilation.
His father came to the rescue but collapsed.
Despite getting weak, Niño was able to get out of the well and ask help from Bohol and some tricycle drivers in the area.
Pacifico was brought to the Bogo District Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival, while Niño was transferred to a Cebu City hospital due to his serious condition.
