Motorcycle slams into car in Mandaue; 2 dead

Two persons were killed when a motorcycle and a car collided in Ouano Avenue at about 5 p.m. last Saturday.

PO1 Ryan Key Bentoy of Mandaue City Traffic Management Unit identified the fatalities as the motorcycle driver, Jurishty Ubanos, 21, and his backrider, Aisa Bragat Fernandez.

Ubanos did not reach the hospital alive while Fernandez, according to her mother, Herminia, died yesterday at 9:50 a.m. in the hospital.

Bentoy said, according to initial investigation, Ubanos and Fernandez were cruising along Ouano Avenue in Mandaue City heading to Cebu City when their XRM motorcycle collided with a Toyota Vios driven by Kenneth Lim.

Bentoy said Lim who was traveling on the opposite lane made a left turn toward Mantawi Drive when the collision happened.
Lim was detained at the Mandaue Police Station 2 pending the filing of charges.
