An argument during a drinking session during last Thursday’s fiesta celebration led a 38-year-old man to kill his 48-year-old cousin in Barangay Banyas, Dalaguete town.
Gilbert Empig died after he was stabbed by his cousin, Julius Empig, at 11 p.m., said PO3 Reynaldo Vidas of the Dalaguete police.
Vidas said that before the stabbing, both cousins who were drunk argued and ended up in a fistfight in the middle of the disco dance floor.
Cooler heads intervened and Gilbert headed home and slept.
Later that night, Gilbert’s brother-in-law arrived outside Gilbert’s house and tried to wake him up but he told him to go away since he was going to sleep.
Vidas said that when the brother-in-law left, Gilbert went outside to check on things only to be attacked by Julius, who was waiting for him outside, with a 21-inch Jungle bolo.
Vidas said Julius stabbed Gilbert in the chest with a bolo killing Gilbert.
Vidas said Julius then surrendered to police after the killing.
