THE STA. CLARITA International School thrashed the STI-West Negros University, 97-82, at the start of the CloudFone Batang PBA Visayas Regional Finals yesterday at the Magis Eagles Arena inside the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu campus in Canduman, Mandaue City.

The Iloilo-based cagers overcame their slow start with a fiery second period shooting spree that turned what was a 25-26 deficit into a 55-41 halftime advantage.

From that point on, Sta. Clarita imposed their will and never looked back to take a step closer to getting the Visayas title and a trip to the national finals next weekend.

Ralph Bajon was sensational yesterday with a blistering scoring spree that netted him 34 points. Giann Nahine added 21 while Ryan Calama-an pitched in 18.

A win by Iloilo over the Cebu representatives University of the Visayas in their game today at 8 a.m. will automatically give them the crown.

Cebu has two games slated today with Bacolod waiting in the wings at 2 p.m.
