THREE Cebuanas will be joining the University of the Philippines (UP) girls’ team in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) volleyball tournament.

UP’s new additions are former Southwestern University (SWU) Lady Cobras Honey Toring and Myca Go and Danao-native Kritch Macaslang.

In an exclusive talk with Cebu Daily News, UP head coach Jerry Yee said the three Cebuana players were recommended by former SWU head coach Jordan Paca.

“I don’t scout players. I’m good friends with Coach Jordan (Paca) and Ryan Aznar. Since they were no longer with SWU, they recommended these players to me,” Yee said.

But Yee clarified they didn’t force the players to join UP.

“At the end of the day, the decision lies with the players. I asked them and they said they wanted to play in Manila so I gave them the opportunity,” Yee said.

Having a Cebuana in the lineup isn’t new for UP as it also has a promising one in its college team in Isabel Molde, who is from Catmon town, northern

Cebu. She is the reigning UAAP Rookie of the Year.
