Stipends sought for Cebu’s fishery wardens

PROVINCIAL Agriculturist Roldan Saragena proposed for the allocation of allowances to fish wardens, saying they deserve to receive incentives like barangay volunteer workers.

Saragena said this was also proposed by Baltazar Tribunalo Jr., chief of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO).

Saragena said he will submit the proposal before the start of the Capitol’s budgeting process for next year.

He said the fish wardens are invaluable in the campaign against illegal fishing.

In other towns, illegal fishing is still widespread despite efforts of the municipal governments.
