Tommy O is fit, says Margot

CEBU City Mayor-elect Tomas Osmeña and his wife Margot, now the city’s acting mayor, are set to leave for the United States of America in August for the annual check up of Tomas, a cancer survivor.

Margot stressed her husband remains fit to run the city and that their trip to the US would just be part of his regular medical check up.

While he was the city mayor in 2008, Tomas was diagnosed with stage four urinary bladder cancer. He went to Houston, Texas to undergo surgery and some 40 lymph nodes were removed during the procedure.

In 2012, Tomas was declared cancer-free by his physicians at the M.D. Andersons Cancer Center, where he was treated.

“It was scheduled to be in June but we will go in August because I cannot leave. You know, being the acting mayor. And he will not go (to Houston) without me,” Margot said.

Margot made this clarification as she denied rumors circulating in the social media that her husband is now very sick, even to the point that he was supposedly confined at the intensive care unit of a local hospital.

According to Margot, she refused to take the rumors seriously, just like how she laughed off allegations that Tomas has a daughter with another woman in the US.

“It’s the same like on Facebook that he has a 23-year-old daughter. So I said, Tom can I adopt her? I mean you can’t take these things seriously. I know naman what’s the truth. I cannot give them the satisfaction of making me miserable,” she said.

She said her husband’s health is good and the doctors told her that they found him negative of cancer cells.

“Last year, when we went in April, he went through all the tests and then the next day, the surgeon met him and on the same day or the next day, the oncologist met him. But they just said, ‘We don’t know what to tell you . . . He’s perfect. There’s nothing we see,’” she said.
