Employees of SM malls in Cebu City and Consolacion town contributed their time in ensuring the cleanliness and preparedness of public schools for the school opening.

SM City Cebu and SM Seaside City Cebu management and staff took time off from their duties to participate in Brigada Eskwela activities to help two public schools in Cebu City.

This is in line with the nationwide campaign initiated by the Department of Education (DepEd).

SM City Cebu spearheaded the repainting of walls, fence and hallways of Mabolo Elementary School, while SM Seaside City Cebu employees took charge of repainting works in Mambaling Elementary School.

SM City Consolacion employees as well donated school supplies to Grade 1 and 2 pupils of Sacsac Elementary School. The employees then shared their talents and skills in arts and crafts with the elementary students.

This campaign is an annual activity of the DepEd with the participation of teachers and school heads together with parents and the local community stakeholders to contribute to the cleaning and preparing of schools in time for the opening of classes.

Brigada Eskwela which was launched in 2003, has generated support from the private and public sectors all over the country.

Over the years, SM through the SM Cares, a division of SM Foundation, actively partakes in said activities in order to provide conducive learning environments.
