PB approves creation of new anti-drug office

June 14,2016 - 10:46 PM

AN ORDINANCE authored by Provincial Board (PB) Member Ivy Durano Meca to create a Cebu Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Office (CPADAO) was approved by the PB during their regular session on Monday.

“I believe in all-out war against illegal drugs,” said Meca during her presentation of the rationale of the ordinance.

“I believe that it is therefore but fitting to create this department to address the problem of illegal drugs in the province,” she said.

The office will work with the Cebu Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Commission (CPADAC) to implement the program.

Meca said CPADAC will serve as an advisory or policy-making body, and CPADAO will be the implementing body.

Meca expressed intent to have the office functional within this year. She said it would be better that the budget for this office will be included in the next supplementary budget. /UP Cebu Intern Amy A. Macalinao
