A GROUNDBREAKING ceremony for a four-story building to house the regional Department of Justice (DOJ) office was held Friday at the Department of Agriculture compound along M. Velez Street in Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City.

The 3,000 square meter area will be occupied by the new DOJ building which will also house the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) and the prosecutors’ office among others.

Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III signed a deed of donation turning over the 3,000 square meter land to the DOJ-7 in May this year.

His condition was that the construction of the DOJ building should be done within three years from the signing of the deed, otherwise ownership of the lot reverts back to the provincial government.

Justice Secretary Emmanuel Caparas, who attended the ceremony, said they target to finish the building within the said number of years although he cannot give the exact date for the start of construction of the building.

other officials who graced the occasion were Gov. Davide, Justice Undersecretary Wendell Go and several prosecutors from both city and province.
