The body of suspected drug lord Jeffrey “Jaguar” Diaz was brought to his residence in Barangay Duljo-Fatima, in Cebu City on Tuesday dawn.

But journalists were not allowed to get inside the gated compound. His neighbors were also tight-lipped about his death.

Cebu Daily News asked residents living near the house of Diaz. Their responses were almost the same: “We have no idea; we are new here; we don’t know him and just ask the others.”

Diaz’ compound is located about 100 meters away from Spolarium Street in the heart of Duljo-Fatima, the place where he grew up.

The private compound is secured by tall, concrete fences, in the middle of the shanties, sari-sari stores, and a few bungalow houses.

A neighbor, who refused to be identified, requested journalists to respect the privacy of the Diaz’ family.

He said close friends and relatives wanted to spend time with Diaz before he would be laid to rest.

“Let’s leave it at that for now,” he told CDN in Cebuano.
