Rising Cebuana netter Princess Dela Rita displayed no signs of rust from a long layoff as she disposed of fellow Cebuana bet Noelle Mae Urgello, 8-3, yesterday to advance into the quarterfinal round of the 14-under girls’ division of the BMEG Junior Tennis Cup at the CitiGreen Tennis Resort in Brgy. Punta Princesa, Cebu City.

The 13-year-old Dela Rita who hails from Lapu-Lapu City asserted her dominance all game-long. She raced to a 4-2 lead before completing the rout with a 4-1 run.

The win put Dela Rita in the quarterfinal match against the winner of the Ellaine Bahonsua-Philline Llido match which was still being played as of press time.

Despite the loss, Urgello still has a chance of capturing a crown as she competes in the 16-under girls’ category today.

Also putting up solid performances for Cebu were Tiffany Claire Nocos and Lyrah Mae Repollo who barged into the quarterfinals with lopsided victories over Shedel Gica (8-0) and Angelica Claridad (8-0).

Meanwhile in the boys’ division, Cebuanos Marc Nicole Suson and Aaron Kevin Tabura blasted Ralph Daryl Alcordo, 8-3, and John Latasa, 4-1, 4-2, to move into the next round.

Suson is set to battle John Clyde Largo who blanked Noelle Garces, 8-0, today in the quarterfinals.

But things went south for another Cebu bet after Hans Cabellon succumbed to Nicholas Ocat, 8-3, in the 12-under boys’ classification.
