The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) will pay its final tribute to its outgoing commander in chief, President Benigno Aquino III, on Monday afternoon.

In a statement yesterday, the AFP said the testimonial on June 27 will be “toned down” and “simple” as Aquino wanted it to be, without deviating from military protocols.

“In contrast to previous parades, there will be no air force fly-by during this testimonial for the CinC this Monday. The toned down ceremonies are in keeping with the desire of the outgoing CinC to keep the ceremonies as simple as possible without sacrificing the necessary military protocols, customs and tradition entailed during the activity,” the statement read.

The AFP said the ceremonies will be its final expression of gratitude to Aquino for his leadership and support to the military.

“The AFP capability build up under the outgoing administration has been the best so far for the AFP and greatly exceeds the support provided by the last three administrations combined,” it added.
