Council’s budget session postponed

June 27,2016 - 11:21 PM

THE four-man Cebu City Council has postponed the special session to discuss the proposed P6 billion annual budget and moved it to today.

Councilor James Anthony Cuenco called for the postponement of the special session, said Acting Cebu City Vice Mayor Lea Japson, who is the presiding officer.

Cuenco, in a phone interview, said that he called for the postponement after suspended Vice Mayor Edgardo Labella requested that he review the contents of the budget proposed by Cebu City Acting Mayor Margarita Osmeña.

He also said that other members of Team Rama would also review the proposed budget in a meeting on Monday night.

The budget proposal includes the appropriations for the mid-year bonus of City Hall employees, their salary increase under Executive Order 201, and the terminal leave pay of outgoing employees, among others.

Cuenco, however, said that the review of the proposed budget would not delay the approval of the budget, knowing that this week is the last regular session of the 13th Cebu City Council.

“We will finish it by Wednesday,” Cuenco said.

Japson has already set the special session today at 2 p.m./UP Cebu Intern Patrick G. Gattoc
