Breaking-News

The chief of police of Danao City in northern Cebu has denied information that five of his policemen were arrested yesterday.

Senior Insp. Alejandro Batobalonos said the report was false.

He attested that in his stint as city police director, he has not received any reports that linked his men to the illegal drug dealings of Alvaro Alvaro or alias Barok, Cebu’s number one drug personality now in jail after his surrender last week.

Former representative Ace Durano of the fifth district, a resident of Danao City, said earlier that there were five policemen assigned in Danao who were arrested over alleged links with Barok.

Durano however clarified today said that “it slipped his mind” to qualify that the information he shared to CEBU DAILY NEWS on Friday night was unverified.

“Was reminded as well that I should be more circumspect with sensitive information,” he said.

His father, Danao City Mayor Ramon “Nito” Durano III, said that he was also told by Cebu Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Commission (CPADAC) head Ivy Durano-Meca that the information on the arrests of the policemen were unconfirmed.
