ABOUT 68 self-confessed drug pushers and users from Minglanilla and Consolacion towns surrendered to the police since last week.

The most recent were the 15 persons from Ward 1 in Barangay Poblacion who surrendered Monday to the municipal police precinct in Minglanilla town. Of the group, seven were drug pushers while the remaining eight were users.

Chief Insp. Franco Rodulf Oriol of the Minglanilla police said the 15 suspects surrendered a week after 21 others turned themselves in.

Orial said the mass surrender happened after he personally visited the homes of these 36 drug personalities as part of the Oplan “Tokhang” (Toktok-Hangyo) of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

The 36 suspects were later released after they signed a commitment that they would already cease from their illegal drug activities. In Consolacion town, 32 self-confessed drug users and peddlers surrendered to the police on Monday.

Senior Insp. Wilson Abot, Chief of the Consolacion police precinct, said most of the suspects were from Barangays Poblacion Oriental and Occidental, Pulpogan, Laray and Pitogo.

Like in Minglanilla town, all of the 32 Consolacion drug suspects were released due to absence of arrest warrants.
