For the last ten days, Cebu City has saved at least P250,000 from tipping fees since the reopened the Inayawan landfill.

Department of Public Service officer-in-charge John Paul Gelasque told members of the media in Thursday that the amount is from the tipping fees alone and does not include yet the savings they could get from lower gasoline consumption and other operational expenses.

Gelasque stated that they encountered minor problems since they opened in Tuesday last week due to the frequent rains like difficult roads leading to the landfill.

“We plan on addressing this issue by covering the service roads with anapog,” he said.
