Ex-con shot down in Mandaue

AN ex-convict was shot down by policemen at barangay Tingub, Mandaue City at 11 am Thursday.

Amelito Mahinay, a 40-year-old resident of sitio Toril, barangay Tingub died on the spot after sustaining a gunshot wound in his body.

Insp. Zenaido Sanchez of the Investigation and Detection Management Branch (IDMB) of the Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) said they received a call from residents of an armed man in their area.

“Mibunot man siya og pusil sa iyang hawak dihang nakakita namo nga nagpadulong niya mao nga gi-unhan siya sa police (He pulled out a gun from his waist upon seeing us approaching him, thus, we shot him),” Sanchez said.

Mahinay was in the watchlist of the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) for cases of robbery. He was jailed in Muntinlupa on murder and frustrated murder charges.
