METRO Cebu and the rest of Cebu province will experience rain and thunderstorms for the rest of the week, the Mactan office of the state weather bureau Pagasa said yesterday.

In response to this weather advisory, the provincial government reminded its disaster management officers to continually prepare their Emergency Response Teams (ERT) in dealing with any possible contingency.

“Around three to five representatives from offices. This is the first move we can make to strengthen employees,” said Baltazar Tribunalo, Cebu Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) head.

The respondents will undergo training in first aid and basic life support.

There are 19 local emergency responders so far and Tribunalo said they will conduct training on La Niña preparations for Grades 3 to 5 students in Mandaue City.
