For five straight years, the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), through its health committee, continued to support the voluntary blood donation campaign of the Department of Health Regional Blood Center and the Philippine Red Cross Eastern Visayas Regional Blood Center by organizing a grand bloodletting activity together with partners from government and nongovernment organizations, the academe and business community.
The grand bloodletting is a mass donation of blood that CCCI and partners aim to hold every July in line with the observance of National Blood Donors’ month.
This year’s bloodletting will be held on July 30 at Robinsons Galleria Cebu and the University of Cebu Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue Campus (UCLM).
The theme of this year’s activity, “Blood connects us all,” is adapted from the World Blood Donors’ Day event.
It focuses on thanking blood donors and highlights the element of “sharing” and “connection” between blood donors and patients.
Further, this year’s slogan — “Share life, give blood” — aims to draw attention to the role that voluntary donation plays in encouraging people to care for one another and promote unity in the community.
Rotary International District 3860 headed by Governor Mary Anne Alcordo-Solomon, who is also the grand bloodletting chairperson, is the lead group of the bloodletting event at Robinsons Galleria.
The different rotary clubs from the Visayas and Mindanao and the Philippine Red Cross signed a partnership to conduct a nationwide mobile donation project dubbed as “Rotary Club One District, One Grand Bloodletting” on July 30.
Major blood donors for the grand bloodletting 2016 are personnel from Police Regional Office-7, Cebu City Police Office, Armed Forces of the Philippines Central Command, Naval Forces Central, Philippine Air Force 2nd Air Division and the UCLM’s Reserved Officers’ Training Course (UCLM ROTC).
Members of Rotary International District 3860, Rotaract Club of Cebu Fuente Community Based and the chamber will also participate.
The general public is enjoined to be part of this advocacy event.
