INDEPENDENT film director Lav Diaz has again brought pride to the Philippines by earning another international recognition at the recently concluded 14th Tabor Film Festival in Zabok, Croatia.

According to an Inquirer report, Lav’s “Ang Araw Bago ang Wakas,” won the best feature at the film festival.

Lav’s 16-minute short film has already been recognized in several film festivals around the world including the 62nd International Short Film Festival Oberhausen, where it won the Principal Prize.

Lav continues to make headlines for his masterpieces, including the eight-hour epic “Hele Sa Hiwagang Hapis” which won the Silver Bear Alfred Bauer prize at the 66th Berlin International Film Festival held last February.

The film, which stars Piolo Pascual and John Lloyd Cruz among many others, was screened on selected cinemas in the Philippines last March.
