It is a rainy Friday for Metro Cebu due to a low pressure area that developed into a tropical depression called Carina.

The tropical depression was spotted 195 kilometers east of Borongan City in Eastern Samar with maximum winds of 45 kilometers per hour, said Evangeline Tolentino, weather specialist II from Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services (Pagasa) based on Mactan Island, Cebu.

She said that so far, there is no public storm signal warning raised in any parts of the country.

The tropical depression has intensified the southwest monsoon, bringing in rains in Cebu since Friday morning.

Tolentino said that it might take its landfall in Northern Luzon. Pagasa has also issued gale warning for Eastern Visayas area.
