Red-hot Calo lifts Abrenica to victory

EMAN Calo put on a shooting clinic as he sank an incredible 12 three-point shots to carry Abrenica past the loaded Team Samsam, 115-112, in the 2016 Emil’s Cup on Sunday night at the Minglanilla Sports Complex.

The blazing performance notched the former University of the Visayas standout 43 points to help put Abrenica at 2-0 and in the top spot heading to the semifinals. He was ably backed by two other former UV aces in Wowie Escosio who had 20 and Harold Cincoflores who added 16.

Team Samsam fell to an even 1-1. Eliud Poligrates scored 33 while Ferdinand Lusdoc chipped in 29 for the squad of Congressman Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas.

In the second game, ASPA defeated SG-ARQ Builders, 95-90. Frangiel Omolon paced the winners with 35 points while Eleazar Armecin and Mike Cantonao helped out with 11 each.

Team Samsam and ASPA were battling it out as of press time for the second seed.
