PRO-7 identifying cohorts of slain ‘narco police’

THE Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) will conduct a deeper investigation into the drug involvement of a former policeman who was shot dead in Naga City in southern Cebu after he refused to surrender to police operatives on Wednesday night.

Senior Supt. Rey Lyndon Lawas, deputy regional director for operations, told reporters yesterday that they were still in the process of identifying the cohorts of PO2 Dave Agcol in illegal drug activities.

“Kinsa ang ilang gi-supplayan ug kinsa ang ga-supply (Who are they supplying and where do they get their supply),” Lawas said.

He said they were also doing a document exploitation on some of the remittances believed to be part of the illegal drug transactions of Agcol.

Lawas said the evidence recovered from Agcol’s house was enough to prove that Agcol and his wife, PO3 Maria Genevieve were indeed involved in illegal drug activities.

Among the things recovered from the couple were Genevieve’s service firearm (Glock 17), two .45 pistols, P8,950 cash believed to be proceeds from the sales of illegal drugs and and five assorted packs of alleged shabu.

The alleged shabu would be submitted to the crime laboratory for testing.

Lawas said they would also check if the guns recovered from the suspects were licensed.

Genevieve, according to Lawas, has been included in the drug list.

Lawas said Genevieve may face grave offense which may cause her dismissal from service.

Genevieve is temporarily detained at the Regional Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force (RSOG-RAIDSOTF) for questioning.

Former policeman Agcol went on absence without an official leave (AWOL) in 2008 after he tested positive in the drug test.

Lawas claimed that Agcol started his drug operation since then.
