Cokaliong Shipping Lines unveils its newest ship
Cokaliong Shipping Lines Inc. on Saturday afternoon officially unveiled to the traveling public the newest ship in its fleet.
M/V Filipinas Jagna, which is valued at P260 million, is the company’s 11th ro-ro (roll on, roll off) passenger vessel and the second one with a computerized engine monitoring system.
Chester Cokaliong, founder, chief executive officer and chief operating officer of Cokaliong Shipping Lines Inc., said that with the addition of the ship to their fleet, they were able to generate employment for 50 people who were hired as ship officials and crew members.
The new ship with an overall length of 76.66 meters, gross tonnage of 2,997.78 tons, and 14.50 meters in breadth, can accommodate a total of 625 persons. It also has a maximum speed of 15 knots and service speed of 14.5 knots.
Its previous trade route was an international voyage from the Port of Wakkanai in Wakkanai City, Hokkaido, Japan to the Port of Korsakov, Russia.
Cokaliong said the M/V Filipinas Jagna will ply the Cebu-Cagayan de Oro-Cebu route on Tuesday and Thursday and the Cebu-Cagayan de Oro-Jagna-Cagayan de Oro-Cebu route every Saturday starting November this year.
