THE coaching staff of the Adamson Soaring Falcons will be in town on Nov. 10 and 11 to conduct tryouts for basketball players who are aspiring to play on the collegiate level’s biggest stage.
According to former University of the Visayas standout Jerry Pingoy, whose son, Koko, is currently serving residency in Adamson, the tryouts will start at 9 a.m. and will run until 12 noon at the Capitol Parish gym along Escario Street.
Though head coach Franz Adamson will not be present due to the ongoing campaign of the Falcons in Season 79 of the UAAP, he will be sending several of his lieutenants to supervise the tryout. These will be former PBA greats Don Allado and Renren Ritualo along with a face familiar to Cebuano basketball fans in Tonichi Yturri, who coached the Cebu Gems in the defunct Metropolitan Basketball Association.
The Falcons currently have former Cesafi juniors MVP Dawn Ochea. Several other Cebuanos have had success playing for Adamson, notably former University of Cebu Baby Webmaster forward Jan Julius Colina, guard Jerick Canada and ex-University of the Visayas Baby Lancer Patrick Jan Cabahug, who led the UAAP in scoring back in 2007 with an average of 21.3 points per game.
