Dumpit assigned in late Jaguar’s turf
SPO1 Adonis Dumpit is back on the field.
Senior Supt. Joel Doria, director of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), has assigned the multi-awarded sharp-shooting cop to the Mambaling Police Station after Dumpit was reassigned back to the Queen City of the South.
In an interview, Doria said he expected Dumpit to help fight crimes and illegal drugs, particularly in Barangay Duljo Fatima, home turf of slain drug lord Jeffrey “Jaguar” Diaz.
“Abangan natin kung ano ang gagawin niya sa Duljo (Let’s see what he would do in Duljo),” he said.
The Mambaling Police Station’s jurisdiction includes Barangays Duljo Fatima, Basak San Nicolas and Mambaling.
In giving Cebu City policemen their assignment, Doria said he always made sure that there would be no special treatment to particular police officers.
“All assignments should be fair,” he said in Filipino.
Late last month, Chief Supt. Noli Taliño, director of the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7), ordered Dumpit to report back to the CCPO after serving the Bohol Provincial Police Office for almost three months.
Taliño said he approved the request of Cebu City Councilor Dave Tumulak, deputy mayor for police matters, to reassign Dumpit to Cebu City.
The PRO-7 director said he was willing to reassign Dumpit as security escort of Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña as long as it would have the approval of Philippine National Police chief, Director Gen. Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa.
Any request for a police escort, he said, should be addressed to Dela Rosa.
But Osmeña last week said he had no intention of asking for any police escort.
“For now, Senior Supt. Doria has the prerogative where to assign Dumpit,” Taliño said.
Dumpit is set to retire on May 13, 2019, the day he turns 56 — the mandatory retirement age for policemen.
Dumpit earlier said that he was willing to be assigned anywhere.
