CUTTING IN LINE

Filipinos, over the years, have learned to fall in line when availing of the services of both public and private facilities, but there are still some “strays.”

Three women were falling in line to use a toilet inside a mall in Cebu City when, suddenly, another woman got in and ignored the others who were in line. When she was admonished about her cutting in line, this woman insisted: “Ako may naka una diri! Wala ko kita ninyo!” (I am first since I did not see any of you).

HONEST CABBIE

Thank God there are still honest taxi drivers in Cebu City.

A Siloy pal reported that she took a taxi and paid the exact amount reflected on the meter, but to her surprise, the driver gave back P10, citing the existing provisional order by the Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board that reduces the taxi flagdown rate from P40 to P30.

Most taxi drivers operating in Metro Cebu have actually been ignoring the P30 flagdown rate and have not been taking P10 off the fare unless told by the passengers.

This particular passenger said she showed her appreciation to the honest driver by telling him, “Ayaw na kuya. Imo na, Merry Christmas!” (It’s okay. You can keep it. Merry Christmas!)
