CLARENCE Tiu eked past Bowlingplex Tenpin Association (BTA) Sinulog Open Masters champion Aui Padawan to clinch the January Monthly Open Tournament title last Sunday at the Gaisano Bowlingplex in Banilad, Cebu City.
Tiu finished the six-game series with 1,219 pinfalls while Padawan settled for second with 1,191 pinfalls. BTA president Bel Suelto Jr. rounded off the top three with 1,181 pinfalls.
Padawan scored a tournament-high 255 pinfalls but it was not enough to stop a consistent Tiu from clinching the title.
Fourth to 10th placers were Boy Co (1,165 ), Luke Bolongon (1,158), Dory Enoveso (1,142), Ed Aniñon (1,136), Xyrra Cabusas (1,124), Juan Arceo (1,100) and Clifford Tan (1,089).
