Guard Killed In Mandaue Mishap

A SECURITY guard was killed after a six-wheeler truck run him over while he was walking home in barangay Basak, Mandaue City.

Allen Pogado, 32, was crossing the road when a Fuso Fighter van driven by Agapito Barangan, 46, run him over at 8:20 p.m. Saturday.

Pogado died on the spot.

Barangan surrendered to the police after the incident.

The truck was about to overtake another vehicle when it hit Pogado, said PO2 Melvin Leones of the Traffic Management Unit of the Mandaue City Police Office.

Barangan is detained at the Basak Police Station pending the filing of charges against him, police said.

A FATHER and son were wounded after they came to blows in a drinking session in barangay Calape, Daanbantayan town, northern Cebu.

Federico Tinos sustained a hack wound in the arm. His son Eleazar was wounded in the back.

Police said the two were in a drinking session in Eleazar’s house in sitio Badiang around 8 p.m. Saturday.

Later, the father and son argued. At the height of the argument, Federico took a bolo and attacked Eleazar.

A wounded Eleazar ran home. He returned to his father’s house a few minutes later and attacked him with a bolo.

Barangay tanods pacified the two and brought them to the town hospital for treatment.

Also in Daanbantayan, a 22-year-old fisherman was stabbed repeatedly by his neighbor around 4 p.m. Saturday.

Police said the victim Aurelio Santos, Jr. and the suspect Leo Siangko, 40, were having a drinking session when they argued in sitio Pangpang, barangay Tapilon.

Police said Tiangko took a knife and stabbed Santos in different parts of the body. Neighbors brought the victim to the hospital. The suspect was arrested by police after the incident.
