Seniors in Talisay City has something to look forward to.

Councilor Socrates Fernandez of Talisay City in southern Cebu wants to increase the annual financial assistance given to the at least 10,000 senior citizens in the city by P2,000.

He said he planned to submit an ordinance during the regular session of the city council on Tuesday, increasing the financial aid from the current P1,000 to P3,000 starting this year.

Fernandez said he had discussed his proposal to the personnel of the city’s Department of Social Welfare and Services (DSWS) office and was told that it had enough funds to cover the adjustment.

Felipa Solana, DSWS head, said that the city hall has allocated P30 million in 2017 for the cash aid to the senior citizens of Talisay.

The amount was enough to cover the increase Fernandez wanted to implement.
Fernandez said the council only needed to pass a resolution that would the release of the additional funds.
