BE Grand Resort hosts 1,000-km rally across the Visayas on Oct. 20-22

The much-awaited Tour de Cebu – 1,000 Kilometers Historic Rally Across the Visayas is back on its 4th successful year and will be staged from October 20-22 in Cebu City and Bohol, Philippines and is proudly presented by PIRELLI with BE Grand Resort as our official venue in Panglao, Bohol.

The Tour de Cebu is the country’s only 1000-km touristic and historic sports car rally. The event is open to sports cars manufactured in 1972 and older, and is presented once more by the Performance and Classics Enthusiasts (PACE) of Cebu with the able support of the Manila Sports Car Club (MSCC).

The race was originally conceptualized as a celebration of a decade of friendships formed and shaped by the open road, but has blossomed into a major driver for road tourism, highlighting the beautiful roads and highways as well as the many scenic spots that the Visayan Islands have to offer. It has captured the imagination of many classic car enthusiasts and fans as well as contributed to the fact that “It’s more fun in the Philippines.”

The tour is inspired by the famed Mille Miglia in Brescia, Italy and is a time management race that puts priority on accuracy and being “on time all the time.”

The official route has been professionally scouted and audited, with official route books with ideal times set for participants to follow.

Last year’s overall champion from a grid of 32 cars was the youngest participant to date, Marty Aguilar, who took home the trophy in a 1967 Toyota S800. This year, 45 entries are expected.

The official press launch was held at the SMX Mall of Asia on April 21, complete with the display of this year’s participating vintages.

A prelude for this year’s Tour de Cebu was held at BE Grand Resort last March 26 attended by Bohol media and some of the key people of PACE such as new PACE chairman Michael Lhuillier and world-renowned industrial designer and newly appointed co-chairperson of Regional Development Council for Central Visayas of the NEDA, Kenneth Cobonpue.

This year, Tour de Cebu aims for this event to be community-oriented and shares this experience with more than just the participants. In collaboration with Tour de Cebu, BE Grand Resort has designed a special package for the vintage/destination adventure for those who are keen to join the rally or witness the spectacle.
