ASIDE from Valentino Calvo, another Cebuano will also don the national tri-colors in the Southeast Asian Games (SEAG) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia this month.
Fil-Australian booter Jordan Blair Jarvis will see action alongside Calvo in the biennial games.
The Australia-born Fil-Aussie who’s mother is from Camotes Island, is a midfielder of the Davao Aguilas FC in the Philippine Football League (PFL). Calvo on the other hand, plays for De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde in the UAAP men’s football tournament.
The Philippine men’s football team which will field in under-22 players, will also field in six more Davao Aguilas FC players namely Junell Bautista, Jaime Cheng, Raymart Cubon, Dylan De Bruycker, Van Rey Diaz and Richard Talaroc Jr.
Their first assignment on August 15, is against Cambodia, at the Selayang Municipal Council Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The 22-year old Calvo, a former Don Bosco Technological Center (DBTC) player who now plays for Saint Benilde, was the first Cebuano to be called to play for the national team while the 21-year old Jarvis was added recently.
Both Calvo and Jarvis are not new in representing the country in international tournaments after playing for the under-19 and under-23 teams.
In preparation for the SEA Games, a football camp was also held in Japan, in cooperation with Japan Football Association.
