Capitol employees to receive P10K bonus today
P111M budget allocation
CASUAL and regular employees of the Cebu provincial government for at least four months can get their midyear bonus today or tomorrow, August 16.
Also, 32 brand-new closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras are set to be installed at the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) in Barangay Kalunasan, Cebu City.
The finances of these undertakings were included in the second supplemental budget for fiscal year 2017 worth P111 million, which was approved by the Provincial Board yesterday.
Each of the more than 1,500 employees of the Capitol will receive P10,000 “for performing well” in their respective jobs.
At least P2 million will be spent for the purchase of brand-new CCTV cameras for the CPDRC.
In earlier reports, CPDRC acting jail warden Roberto “Bobby” Legaspi sought the need to put up additional surveillance cameras to strengthen monitoring activity within the jail premises. Currently, at least 15 of the 30 CCTV cameras in the CPDRC are not functional.
Additional funds to improve other services of the Capitol also formed part of the P111 million supplemental budget.
These include P8 million as local assistance fund from the provincial governor, P2 million for the renovation of the Women and Children’s Crisis Center, and P20 million as hazard pay for health workers all over the province for the months of April to December.
A combined sum of P99 million is also allocated for the upgrading and construction of new hospitals and health centers in the province.
The resolution was penned by 5th District PB Member Miguel Antonio Magpale, and passed all three readings yesterday afternoon during the PB’s regular session at the Capitol.
It met no objection from the floor.
However, the PB upheld the pronouncement of Gov. Hilario Davide III to withhold the P10,000 midyear incentive of CPDRC employees.
Davide expressed disappointment towards the CPDRC jail guards for failing to prevent contraband items from entering the jail after several items such as illegal drugs and proceeds from illegal gambling were seized during a Greyhound Operation last August 1.
