BINIBINING CEBU 2017: Miss Dumanjug and Miss Malabuyoc

FIFTY-FOUR lovely ladies are showcasing the best of their towns and cities in the first ever Binibining Cebu pageant. Here are the candidates representing the towns of   Dumanjug and Malabuyoc, respectively: Phyllis Saromines and Jocelyn L. Ampil.

Phyllis Saromines

Age: 19

Town: Dumanjug

Hobbies/Interests: Writing poems, watching movies, singing, dancing, acting, listening to music, and traveling

School: AB International Studies at the University of San Jose – Recoletos

Titles: Miss Teen USC 2014 2nd runner-up and Miss Dumanjug 2015

IT WAS Phyllis Saromines’ aunt who introduced her to the world of pageantry and now she is representing the town of Dumanjug, which is known for its “Bisnok” or Bisayang Manok.

“This scrumptious treat will make your mouth water and once you taste it, you’ll be wanting more. It’s an original and it’s something you should never miss when you visit Dumanjug,” she told CDN.

The town has been featured in GMA Network’s “Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho” for its caves whose trails of gold could lead to the Yamashita Treasure.

“There we’d know how much Dumanjug was involved during the Japanese colonization period,” she said.

Jocelyn L. Ampil

Age: 24

Town: Malabuyoc

Hobbies/ Interests: Cooking, reading books, zumba, and traveling

Title: Ms. Basak 2015 (Negros Oriental)

JOCELYN L. Ampil’s family and friends are her reasons why she joined Binibining Cebu.

She is the official candidate of Malabuyoc, a town in southwest Cebu which is 137 kilometers away from Cebu City.

“Malabuyoc is a place where you can enjoy yourself like exploring and captivating its beautiful tourist attractions and great travel destinations,” she told Cebu Daily News.

The town is known for its tourist attractions like Kabutongan Falls and Mainit Spring.  “My municipality has very accommodating people who will make you feel at home,” she added.
