Netizens cheered Cebuana marathon queen and Olympian Mary Joy Tabal as she made history by winning the 42k race during the 41st National Milo Marathon for the fifth straight year.
What made it emotional was that Tabal’s father died before she competed in the prestigious race.
Salvador Boie Sano Contreras said, “We were lucky the Cebuanos supported Joy when the national athletic committees refuse to acknowledge and support her. How many good and deserving athletes were never given a chance due to ‘politics’ in the sports?”
