NO ‘GANGSTER COPS’ IN CV?
Netizens were aghast after the director of the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) Chief Supt. Mario Espino said he was certain that there are no “gangster” cops in Central Visayas.
Jaime Gallado wrote: “Don’t be too certain about your people, you have thousands of policemen under you; you think kabalo ka sa ilang binuhatan (you know what they are doing)?”
James Castro wrote: “Daghan police dinhi sa amoa na abusado kaau nya mo ana ka na walay gangster cops sa cebu? Asa ka naka kuha ana imong data sir?”
(There are many abusive policemen in our place. Where did you get your data, sir?)
While Carmen Oblan said Espino should settle unfinished business before moving on to other police matters, particularly the killing of Ermita Barangay Captain Felicisimo “Imok” Rupinta: “Before ta mo move ug lain na matter, humanon sa nato ang na biyaan. Walay pa jud tay suspect na klaro sa kang Rupinta sir? unsa naman ni?”
Espino’s comment came after President Rodrigo Duterte announced on Monday that he will fire about 90 corrupt policemen and will not tolerate “gangster” cops.
