The Tactical, Survival & Arms (TACS) Expo 2018, the only comprehensive defense, security, and survival show in the Philippines, made its mark in Cebu last June 15-18, 2018 at the Cebu Trade Hall of SM City Cebu with various exhibits and valuable lectures conducted by experts in the fields of security, defense and survival.
It opened with special guest of honor, Philippine National Police Chief Oscar Albayalde.
Organized by ARMSCOR Global Defense Inc., with the cooperation of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), the Philippine National Police (PNP), Office of Civil Defense (OCD) and firms in the security and defense industry, TACS Expo 2018, with the theme “Defense, Security and Survival for Sustainable Living,” brought in survival equipment and sustainability solutions that are important in times of calamities and disasters.
“As one of the national law enforcement agencies in the Philippines, the PNP is happy to know that we have earnest partners who are advocates of self-defense, security, and survival. TACS Expo’s advocacy to encourage both young and adult audience to become advocates of self-defense and preparedness for sustainable living by conducting events like this is truly remarkable,” said PNP Chief Oscar Albayalde in his speech during the opening ceremony.
Around 20 exhibitors showcased various firearms, tactical and outdoor gear at discounted rates. Trusted manufacturers also displayed ammunition, medical equipment, rifle scopes and sights, military accessories, ammo reloading components, knives, emergency lighting, thermal blankets, security systems and safety equipment, among others.
TACS Expo 2018 sought to arm everyone with the right equipment, information, and skills to deal with natural and man-made situations that might compromise safety and survival.
The series of lectures included “Improvised Rescue Techniques Using Common Household Materials,” “Fire Survival Techniques and Response Skills using Common Household Materials,” “Water (Flood/Swiftwater/Sea) Survival Technique – Making Your Improvised Lifevest,” and “Stampede Proof
Evacuation Techniques” by Joebert Tolentino of the Disaster and Emergency Responders International – Community Emergency Response Team.
Other talks were “Ready 101: Family Preparedness” by Martin Aguda, who is an Emergency Management consultant, and “Urban Survival After a Disaster” by Per Christian Thrane Neis, who is a paramedic and firefighter, and founder of the FAMC Motorcycle Rescue Foundation.
The PNP’s Firearms and Explosive Office also conducted a forum that tackled firearms ownership and set up a booth to help people process their License to Own and Possess Firearm (LTOPF), which is a requirement before anyone can purchase a firearm.
