NBI-7 nabs young man for extortion
An 18-year-old man was arrested by National Bureau of Investigation in Central Visayas (NBI-7) agents in an entrapment operation for allegedly extorting money from his neighbor in Barangay Pasil, Cebu City.
The suspect, identified as Argie Fernandez, was arrested at around 5 p.m. today inside a remittance outlet in Barangay Pasil after he threatened his 21-year-old neighbor that he would spread the nude photos of the latter’s girlfriend if he did not pay up.
NBI-7 agent Francis Señora said that Fernandez demanded P4,000 from the victim but later settled for P2,000, which was sent to him through the remittance outlet.
Fernandez, who was nabbed after he received the money, claimed he was only “joking.”
He is now detained at the NBI-7 headquarters pending the filing of charges against him.
