THE METRO Cebu Basketball League (MCBL) kicks off its third season with the Recreational Division on August 12 at the City Sports Club-Cebu basketball courts.
Helmed by former Southwestern University-Phinma guard Jabby Bautista, the Recreational Division is made for weekend warriors and basketball enthusiasts alike.
Active or inactive varsity players are not allowed to play. Neither are current and former pros. A height cap of six-feet is also being implemented.
A whopping 54 teams will be competing in this tournament. The teams will be divided into seven different brackets.
Teams will play in a single round round-robin in each bracket with the top two finishers moving on to the knockout “Sweet 16” round.
Two wildcard teams will also be joining the “Sweet 16” through a lottery.
This competition is being backed by Wilson, RAD Teamwear, Tanduay Athletics, Cobra Energy Drink, MLB Lechon, First 5 Sports Bar & Café, Dia De Spa, Stylings and JReese Avenue.
