Cebu City Jail’s new policy: Strip before entry

Male visitors will now be asked to strip naked before they will be allowed entry into the Cebu City Jail in Barangay Kalunasan to deter the possible entry of contraband into the jail facility.

Jail Warden Supt. Renante Rubio issued the order following the arrest of a transgender visitor who tried to sneak 20 ampules of nubain, which he placed on a condom that was inserted in his anus, on Tuesday.

“Ang i-frisk raman gud sa mga male visitors kay ang lawas. Karon tungod gamiton na ang private parts sa lalaki amo nana sila i-check na (We used to just frisk the body of male visitors. But now that they are already using male private parts, we will now be asking them to strip naked for inspection),” Rubio said.

Rubio said they will have to be more stringent in doing their inspections since some jail visitors are also being innovative in transporting drugs and other contraband into the city jail.

Jail guards turned over to the Guadalupe police on Tuesday former call center agent April Jay Ajoc who inserted 20 ampules of nubain in his anus.

His alleged cohorts, Rachel Peligrino Vargas and her brother-in-law Anthony Brian Vargas were arrested in separate follow-up operations by the police late on Tuesday afternoon.

Police confiscated seven ampules of nubain and five small packs of shabu from Rachel during a buy-bust operation along D. Jakosalem Street, Barangay Day-as.

Five ampules of nubain and two small packs of shabu were also taken from Anthony in a separate buy-bust operation in Barangay Kalunasan.

“We conducted separate buy-bust on the other two persons. We successfully bought nubains from them,” said Chief Insp. Eduardo Sanchez, chief of the Guadalupe Police Station.

All three suspects are now detained while Guadalupe police prepare charges for the possession and sales of illegal drugs against them.
