Green Lancers eager to try newly renovated UV gym

Cebu City, Philippines — The three-time defending Cesafi champions University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers are giddy with excitement to start preparations for their title defense at the newly renovated UV gym within its main campus in downtown Cebu City.
The home of most successful collegiate basketball team in the region was long overdue for more than just a fresh coat of paint and school management have delivered in the biggest of ways.
Upon seeing this, several Green Lancers have expressed their enthusiasm to test out their new home.
Guard Sheldon Gahi said he is fortunate enough to still be around to witness and experience this new gym.
“It’s amazing, kay sa panahon jud namo na timingan nga gi-renovate. So kami first maka practice sa bag-o nga gym. So we thank the Gullas Family for the newly renovated gym,” said the cat-quick guard who is looking to bounce back this season after missing the last because of an injured foot.
(It’s amazing because the renovation happened in our time. So we will be the first to practice in the new gym.)
Gahi added that it’s been a few months since they have set foot on the gym and was shocked when he saw what it looks like now.
“Super excited! It has been two months I guess nga wala nami naka practice sa gym. So excited jud mi tanan makabalik na sa practice and to start focusing on the National PRISAA and upcoming Cesafi season.”
(It has been two months I guess that we haven’t practiced in the gym. So we’re all excited to get back to practice and to start focusing on the National Prisaa and the upcoming Cesafi season.)
Another veteran on the team, left-handed forward Ted Saga, said he is grateful to UV for taking the time and the resources to give them and the rest of the student population a new gym.
“Sa newly renovated gym namo karon kay nindot na kaayo and pasalamat mi sa UV ani kay ilahang gipanindot pag maayo ang gym nga amo practisan adlaw adlaw,” said the sweet-shooting big man.
(Our newly renovated gym is very nice and we thank UV that they made our gym where we practice every day better.)
