CEBU CITY, Philippines–The departing domestic passengers at the Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA) had to be transferred from the South Wing of Terminal 1 to the North Wing of Terminal 1 after the x-ray machine in the domestic terminal experienced loss of power.

The GMR Megawide Cebu Airport Corp. explained that the loss of power occurred when ongoing renovation works hit the electric supply cable.

“Whilst the restoration of power eventually occurred, a contingency of rerouting the passengers to the North Wing, which has two x-ray machines, was put in place,” GMCAC said in a statement.

The company decided to implement measures to prevent a recurrence of the incident.

GMCAC transferred an x-ray machine from Terminal 2, the international terminal, to the domestic terminal.

With the transfer, there will now be two x-ray machines at the MCIA South Wing of Terminal 1.

“The two x-ray machines will also be connected to alternative power supplies to ensure that no two machines will be affected by a power failure,” GMCAC said.

GMCAC also assured the travellers that all possible measures are being taken to prevent the impact of renovation works from affecting daily operations./dcb
