MANILA, Philippines—The Supreme Court, on its ruling Tuesday, has upheld the constitutionality of the Republic Act No. 10354 or the Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health Act of 2012, but has nullified some of its provisions.

The Supreme Court has partially granted calls nullifying Republic Act No. 10354 or the Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health Act of 2012.

In its ruling, the high court affirmed the constitutionality of some of the law’s provision while several provisions were nullified.

A total of 14 petitions have been filed with the high court. A series of oral arguments was conducted by the Supreme Court eight months ago.

The high court first stopped the implementation of the law for four months on March 18, 2013. It issued a status quo ante order after Pro-Life Philippines Foundation Inc. and Catholic Church groups questioned the law for violating constitutional provisions guaranteeing the right to life.

Before the four months was over, the Supreme Court extended indefinitely its status quo ante order last July.
