Cebu Province policemen ready for Auring

CEBU CITY, Philippines — The police and the disaster risk reduction and management office of the towns and cities of Cebu are ready for Tropical Storm Auring, which is according to the state weather bureau may hit the northern part of Cebu on Monday morning,

Police Colonel Alladin Collado,  Cebu Police Provincial Office chief, said that the police in the province were coordinating with the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office and DRRMOs in the towns and cities of the province and their local cheif executives for the preparations for Auring.

According to Philippine Atmospheric Geophysial Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), Auring still has maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour (kph) and gusts of u[ to 80kph.

It was last seen 285 km east northeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del sur.

Collado said that they would need to work together to respond promptly and effectively to assist or rescue any person in trouble when Auring hits Cebu.

With this, he said he had ordered the different police station commanders to report the situation of their areas of jurisdiction every two hours to CPPO headquarters.

He said the CPPO policemen were also ready to assist the Coast Guard in any search and rescue operation since they could provide manpower and equipment if they would be needed to do so./dbs
